ABEL DE LA CRUZ ACOSTA was born in Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic. He was raised in a Christian home, and from an early age his desire has been to play guitar, compose music, and sing for the Lord. He studied in the Dominican Music Academy, as well as in the National Conservatory of Music, and has realized various compositions and arrangements and performed in several musical productions.
Abel has served the Lord through music from his childhood, and at the age of 15 began to serve as church accompanist on the guitar. He received Christ as his personal Savior at age sixteen.
Abel faithfully serves the Lord through his voice, musical talents, and ministry in Iglesia Bautista Quisqueyana, where he is currently the general music director and titular instructor in the newly forming Quisqueyana Academy of Music. Abel ministers specifically through musical composition, hymn arranging and instruction in musical instruments. He directs the children's choir, adult and youth orchestras, and co-directs the adult choir and vocal groups. In addition to his work in his local church, Abel is actively involved in preparing other churches in Godly music.
REBECCA DE LA CRUZ was born and raised in North Georgia, where her homeschooling family owns a small dairy goat farm. Her parents incorporated the reading and understanding of the Scriptures into the family's daily life. She grew up in a Bible-believing Baptist church, and at age eight received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.
At the age of 5, Rebecca began taking music lessons on the cello and later took lessons on the piano and organ as well. She has participated in music ministry with her family and at her home church, Crooked Creek Baptist, where she served as assistant pianist and organist and worked with the orchestra. She has performed with several orchestras and continued her musical studies at Emmanuel College and the University of Georgia, graduating from EC with a B.A. in Cello Performance.
Through her church and studies, God gave Rebecca a burden for ministry in a Latin country. She went to serve in the village of Juan Tomás, the Dominican Republic, at the end of July, 2009, where she began to serve in Fountain of Life School and the Bible Church of Juan Tomás. There, Rebecca has taught art and music from a biblical perspective, as well as given private music lessons.
ABEL & REBECCA met through the ministry in Juan Tomás in 2009, where they began to work together. They married in December of 2010, and are excited about the ministry God has given them.
Their goal is child and youth evangelism and discipleship through music instruction, as well as the preparation of church musicians in music that is pleasing to God. Through music, many young people come to the church who would never come otherwise. There, they are presented with the Gospel. Classes and rehearsals give us the opportunity to get to know our students, their families, and their needs. It gives us an open door to share Christ with them, or encourage them in their spiritual walk.
Because we work in a poverty-stricken area, we currently depend on outside donations and support to provide instruments and music accessories for the majority of our students. We are very grateful for the many who have chosen to donate instruments and materials or support our ministry financially. For a list of specific needs, to know how we will use financial support, or for our statement of faith, please contact us. Tax deductible receipts are currently handled through Crooked Creek Baptist Church.
